Labor & Employment

The firm has experience in all facets of the employment relationship.  We advise our employer clients on topics ranging from exempt and non-exempt classification, employee hiring, discipline, termination, and insurance coverage.  We also create, edit, and review employee handbooks.

The Montana Wrongful Discharge from Employment Act makes the employer-employee relationship in Montana unique among the 50 states.  We have extensive experience advising clients on this Act and litigating wrongful discharge claims.  We also provide pragmatic advice to employers in crafting employment agreements and policies that make sense for their business and limit potential pitfalls of the Act.

While good policies and procedures may limit the potential for claims, when they do arise we have the experience to represent employers from administrative hearings through court proceedings and appeal.  We also have experience and provide class-action defense on behalf of employers.

Where We Come In

Our employment law practice also extends to representing employees in reviewing, advising, and negotiating employment contracts.  We have also represented employees in wrongful discharge, discrimination, and wage and hour cases.  Our experience on both sides of the employment relationship informs our pragmatic approach to these issues.
