Matthew A. Haus

Matt Haus is a partner with the firm and maintains a general civil practice with an emphasis on litigation and appellate practice.  He has represented plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of civil matters, such as commercial litigation, construction law,insurance coverage and bad faith, consumer protection and unfair trade practices, personal injury, property disputes, and land use issues.

 Matt’s construction practice includes representing owners, contractors, and subcontractors.  He has assisted clients with transactional work, including the drafting and negotiation of construction contracts.  Matt also has experience litigating construction disputes involving construction defects, construction liens, bond and surety issues, prompt payment claims, and design defects.

 In his business and commercial practice, Matt has experience with drafting and negotiating a variety of business transactions, such as software agreements, vendor contracts, employment contracts, consulting agreements, and professional services agreements.

 Matt is licensed to practice law in Montana and Minnesota.  He has been admitted to the U.S. District Court for the District of Montana and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.  He is also active in the State Bar of Montana.  Matt currently serves as a Trustee for the State Bar of Montana and is the past President of the Gallatin County Bar Association.

 Matt graduated magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School afterearning his Bachelor of Arts from the University of California – San Diego.  Before moving to Montana, he worked in the legal department for Pearson VUE, a company headquartered in suburban Minneapolis.  Matt lives in Bozeman with his wife, Karlee, and their two sons.
