Merriam Schmitz
Merriam Schmitz was born in Minnesota and moved to Montana in 2025 to work at the firm and live near her older sister. In 2024, she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Conservation Biology and Botany from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Merriam decided to pursue a Paralegal Certificate from Boston University, with hopes to take a big step into the legal realm. Her previous work experience includes conducting research on potatoes, cranberries, snap beans, kidney beans, lingonberries, and many other crops. Since joining the firm, Merriam has been able to combine her environmental interests with the relevant matters of the firm such as assisting with conservation easements, land rights issues, and protective covenants. In her free time, Merriam loves to hang out with her friends, float in a river, go backpacking, and is eager for each ski season.
